I suggest not learning the hard way.
If you are going to do things here and there for family or friends at a very nominal fee that’s one thing… If you are going to do a business… treat it like a business… even part-time. There are many legitimate expenses that may be claimed if you are generating some income…. may as well take advantage of them.
Home projects are being done year round every place there are homes. Knowing what you are doing, (our resources can teach you),having the appropriate tools and the right attitude will provide work no matter where you are located.
Word of Mouth is by far the best … trust me the economy can be very touchy if things go south… if you are reasonable and good it does not take a huge network to keep you busy.
