Out of sight – Out of mind… Being PROACTIVE will pay big dividends
Some of you out there own a second home, or cottage, or cabin…. that you utilize part of the year. Whether lakeside, Seaside, rural, mountain or desert, it doesn’t matter— there is a common thread …. & It doesn’t matter if you’re using these places a lot or very little—YOU CAN BE ASSURED– Projects are developing!
That is unless your place is in a giant bubble that protects them from sun- wind- barometric pressure- freezing, thawing, critters, insects, ornery brats, and on and on. (That’s not to mention the normal wear and tear of people simply being there!)
If you’re a home project guy or gal, you hopefully know what I’m talking about. Many who have these properties meet regularly on their vacations at the local hardware stores!
Here’s my one suggestion: if you’re not a home project type, find someone who is! A well recommended home project guy or gal to check in on your property on a regular basis to keep an eye on things throughout the non-occupancy time frame…. In addition to that——- at least once a year have them address all the little things that may crop up…. — An ounce of Prevention is worth a Pound of Cure!!!
If you don’t believe me, I can put you in touch with those for whom I’ve followed up projects involving frozen pipes, critter habitation, intruding roots & trees, water issues and on & on…. I’ll bet pretty good money they could convince you!!
Trust me! That will be money well spent!
